Who we are

This policy explains how The Wild Lotus Tattoo Studio(“we”, “us”) handles personal information collected through this website, www.thewildlotustattoo.co.nz. We follow the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

We are at 765 Main Street, Roslyn, Palmerston North 4414. For anything about your personal information, email us at wildlotustattoo@outlook.co.nz. Mo, the studio owner, is our privacy officer.

What we collect

When you send an enquiry. The enquiry form asks for your name, email and phone number, the service you are interested in, and, if it is a tattoo enquiry, the style, size, placement, whether it is your first tattoo, a description of your idea, and up to three reference images. You choose what to put in the message and which images to send.

When you browse the site. We use analytics tools that record how the site is used: which pages are visited, how people arrive here, the type of device and browser, approximate location (city level, worked out from your internet address), and how people move, click and scroll on a page. These tools use cookies and similar technology. Our website host also keeps standard technical logs, which include internet addresses.

We do not ask for payment details on this website.

Why we collect it

  • To reply to your enquiry, plan your design and arrange a booking.
  • To understand how the website is used, so we can make it clearer and easier to use.
  • To keep the website running securely.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the services that run this website:

  • Resend delivers each enquiry to us by email.
  • Microsoft Outlook is our email inbox, where enquiries are received and kept.
  • Our website provider, which builds and manages this website, receives a copy of every enquiry sent through the form.
  • Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager measure visits to the site and when an enquiry is sent. The record of an enquiry being sent includes the service you chose, but not your name, contact details, message or images.
  • Microsoft Clarity records how visitors use the site, including session recordings and heatmaps of clicks and scrolling. What you type into form fields is hidden from these recordings.
  • Vercel hosts the website.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

Information sent overseas

Several of these services are run by companies based outside New Zealand, mainly in the United States, and store information there. Those countries may not protect personal information in the same way New Zealand's Privacy Act does. By sending an enquiry or using the site with analytics cookies allowed, you agree to your information being sent to these services. Email and Instagram messages to us are handled by overseas providers too, so if this concerns you, visit the studio in person, and block cookies as described below.

Cookies and how to opt out

Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity set cookies to tell one visit from another. The site works without them. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and Google offers a browser add-on that stops Google Analytics from recording your visits: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

You can read how Microsoft handles Clarity data at privacy.microsoft.com and how Google handles Analytics data at policies.google.com/privacy.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry emails for as long as we need them to respond to you and to look after any booking that follows, and then delete them. Google Analytics keeps visit data for 14 months. Microsoft keeps Clarity data for the periods set out in its own terms.

Keeping it safe

The website uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and we take reasonable steps to protect the information you send us from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. No method of sending information over the internet is completely secure, so please do not include anything in an enquiry that you would not want sent by email.

Seeing and correcting your information

You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it. Email wildlotustattoo@outlook.co.nz. We will respond within 20 working days, as the Privacy Act requires.

Concerns and complaints

If you are worried about how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page if the way we handle information changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
