First-Timer Questions
Your consultation is a sacred conversation, not a sales pitch. We sit together in a calm, private space and explore your vision - the symbolism, the intention, the energy you want your piece to carry. We discuss placement, sizing, style preferences, and any personal meaning behind the design. There is no pressure and no rush. This is where your transformation begins. Consultations are complimentary and typically last 30-45 minutes.
Arrive well-rested, hydrated, and nourished. Eat a solid meal within two hours of your appointment. Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before your session and limit caffeine on the day. Wear comfortable, loose clothing that allows easy access to the area being tattooed. Bring water, snacks, headphones, or anything that helps you feel grounded. We provide herbal tea, blankets, and a calming atmosphere - your only job is to show up as you are.
Honesty is sacred here: yes, tattoos involve sensation. Most describe it as a warm scratching, a cat scratch, or a sunburn-like feeling. Pain varies significantly depending on placement - bony areas and inner arms tend to be more sensitive, while outer arms and thighs are gentler. Our Reiki-infused sessions are specifically designed to calm the nervous system and reduce discomfort. Many clients tell us their session here was far more comfortable than previous experiences elsewhere.
Session length depends entirely on the complexity and size of your piece. Small, delicate designs may take 1-2 hours. Medium pieces typically require 3-4 hours. Larger or highly detailed work is split across multiple sessions of 4-5 hours each. We never rush. Your body, your comfort, and the integrity of the art always come first. We will give you a time estimate during your consultation.
Pricing & Booking
Every piece is custom-designed and priced based on size, complexity, detail level, and session time required. We provide a clear quote after your consultation so there are never surprises. We believe in transparency - you will always know the investment before we begin.
Yes. A non-refundable deposit is required to secure your booking. This deposit is deducted from your final session cost. It covers the time invested in your custom design work and holds your dedicated space in our calendar. Deposit details are provided at your consultation.
We ask for a minimum of 48 hours notice for any cancellations or reschedules. Cancellations within 48 hours will forfeit the deposit, as your time slot cannot be offered to another client. We understand that life happens - if you experience a genuine emergency, please reach out and we will always do our best to accommodate you with compassion.
No. The Wild Lotus is an appointment-only studio. Every piece we create is custom-designed specifically for you, which requires consultation time, design development, and intentional preparation. This approach ensures you receive our full creative energy and undivided attention. Walk-in culture does not align with the sacred, unhurried experience we offer.
Design & Style
Absolutely. We welcome reference images, sketches, mood boards, Pinterest collections, or written descriptions. Your input is the foundation of the collaborative process. However, we do not directly copy another artist's work - that would dishonour both you and them. We will take your inspiration and transform it into something uniquely yours, infused with our artistic voice and your personal symbolism.
Our signature style lives at the intersection of botanical illustration, sacred geometry, and fine-line elegance. We specialise in nature-inspired work - florals, fauna, celestial motifs, organic flowing forms, and symbolic imagery. We also love ornamental dotwork, mandalas, and designs that honour spiritual or cultural significance. That said, all styles are welcome - whatever you have in mind, from bold colour realism to blackwork to traditional, we would love to bring it to life with the same care and precision.
Yes, cover-ups and reworks are a meaningful part of our practice. Transforming something you have outgrown into something that honours who you are now is deeply aligned with our philosophy of transformation. Cover-ups require a specific consultation to assess the existing tattoo (colour, density, placement, scarring) and determine what is possible. In some cases, we may recommend a laser lightening session first for the best result.
Placement is a conversation between anatomy, flow, meaning, and aesthetics. We consider how the design interacts with the natural curves and movement of your body, how visible you want it to be, and how it will age over time. During your consultation, we can mock up placement options and discuss the pros and cons of each. Ultimately, it is your body and your choice - we are here to guide, not dictate.
Healing & Aftercare
Surface healing typically takes 2-3 weeks, during which the tattoo will peel and feel slightly dry or itchy. Full dermal healing - where the ink is completely settled into the skin - takes 4-6 weeks. Larger pieces or areas with more movement (elbows, hands, feet) may take slightly longer. Everyone heals differently based on their body, lifestyle, and how well they follow aftercare. Patience is part of the process.
We provide a comprehensive aftercare guide at the end of every session. The essentials: keep the wrap on for the recommended time, wash gently with fragrance-free soap, pat dry, and apply a thin layer of recommended aftercare balm 2-3 times daily. Avoid submerging in water, direct sunlight, tight clothing over the area, and picking or scratching. Your tattoo is a wound that is also a work of art - treat it with the same reverence you brought to your session.
We recommend avoiding intense exercise for 3-5 days to prevent excessive sweating and friction on the healing skin. Swimming (pools, ocean, hot tubs) should be avoided for a minimum of 2-3 weeks, as submerging a healing tattoo risks infection and ink loss. Light movement like walking or gentle yoga is fine from day one. Listen to your body - if it pulls, stings, or feels irritated, give it more time.
We have a dedicated aftercare page with everything you need to know about caring for your new tattoo - from the first hour through to long-term maintenance. You can find it at our aftercare page, or we will email you the full guide after your session.

A Reiki-infused session weaves energy healing into the tattooing experience. Before we begin, Reiki is channelled to calm your nervous system, ground your energy, and set a clear intention for the piece. During the session, healing energy flows continuously - reducing pain perception, easing anxiety, and creating a meditative state. Many clients describe it as feeling deeply held, calm, and even euphoric. It transforms tattooing from a procedure into a ceremony.
No. Reiki does not require belief, faith, or any spiritual framework. It works on the energetic body regardless of your personal beliefs. Think of it like warmth from the sun - you do not need to believe in it to feel it. Sceptics often report feeling unexpectedly relaxed, calm, or emotional during sessions. All we ask is that you remain open. If energy work is not for you, that is completely honoured - it is always optional.
For those who choose our Reiki-enhanced sessions, we set a crystal grid around the tattooing space. Specific crystals are chosen based on your intention - black tourmaline for protection, rose quartz for self-love, citrine for confidence, amethyst for calm. The grid creates an energetic container that supports your session. It is beautiful, grounding, and entirely optional. Some clients love it; others prefer simplicity. Both are perfect.
Absolutely - in fact, anxious clients are exactly who we designed this experience for. Our entire studio environment is built to soothe the nervous system: warm lighting, no harsh sounds, private sessions (you will never share space with another client, though you are welcome to bring a support person if you'd prefer), calming music, herbal tea, weighted blankets, and breathwork guidance. The Reiki component specifically targets anxiety by regulating the parasympathetic nervous system. Many of our clients have tattoo anxiety or general anxiety disorders and tell us this is the first time they have felt truly safe in a studio.
